Today I made the first step in my professional music career - I released a track. The night before I had stayed up till 7:30am making a track from start to finish, including cover art. Then I uploaded it to my YouTube channel. Yes, it's not an official release but it was the first time I felt confident enough to just say "I'm done".
At first I planned to release it on streaming platforms once I setup an account with a distributor but I decided just now that I'm instead going to create a few more low effort tracks such as this one and just release them underground (including SoundCloud).
The thing that's stopping me from releasing songs I've been working on for months is that I feel that tracks on Spotify and other streaming platforms need a certain level of quality which I'm afraid mine don't yet have. Every time I think I'm finished, the mastering engineer I'm working with says the mix still requires improvement. So perhaps a few zero-pressure releases on Youtube and SoundCloud would help me get the ball rolling and stop postponing it all.
Here's the song I released today if you're curious
